Since ordering these and some ebony spoons from lark in the morning, I've learned that the sound of ebony on ebony doesn't lend itself to every genre. However, holding one of these as the stationary bone and ox shin as the striking bone yields quite a pleasant sound. Also neat is holding both ebony bones and both ox shins in my off-hand for a "bone-clanking" sound that may lend itself to darker/minor songs.

Ebony on ebony is very poppy, but bone on ebony is sharp. My collection and experience are limited but I think these make good off-hand bones and combine well with real bone.
